Pourquoi n’allons nous pas a Paris?

Why are we not going to Paris? Well the reason I wouldn’t make it to Paris now is because my car needs a new engine. I can’t let that stop me now can I? I live in America and we have American dreams which sometimes equal American debt. I’m 33 years of age and when I began my musical career or rather started taking music seriously(realizing all my songs didn’t suck) I was 25 years of age. It all began when I finally wrote 5 solid songs and made my mind up that it was now or never, as in if I don’t make a recording of these songs now, I probably never will, or If I don’t launch my career now, I probably never will. I’m sure anyone who begins a career looks back and reflects on their beginnings and like me, says “what was I thinking?” That is to say that while I know that first recording of songs isn’t my best, I had to start somewhere. Where am I going with this ramble here? Staying encouraged and focused. After I made that first recording which ended up landing me a little indie record deal and management, about a year later it was all gone. I am very thankful for that time because I got to work with Jon Stinson http://jonstinson.com/ and some other rad people. As I grow and learn with age, I realize that I only have knowledge to gain from it all and there’s nothing to be afraid of, if anything my best work is yet to come. One of my all time favorite songwriters Bill Withers, didn’t even have a record deal till he was 32. Obviously today, record deals are few and far between, but even in 1970 when Withers was signed, “he refused to resign his job because of his belief that the music business was a fickle industry and that he was still a novice compared to other acts.”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Withers And yeah, he wrote “Ain’t no sunshine.”

I do have the opportunity to tour in Europe this year and that has always been a dream. While it’s again, confusing that my car would break down before I’m about to go on a four-day tour through Washington and Oregon, I’m starting to get the feeling, it’s now or never which is pushing me to figure out how to make it a reality. Every problem has a solution, right? Moving forward, I’m re-releasing some older recordings that I made in Nashville that I have been self-conscious of(and still am). Since I now have http://outerrealmmanagement.blogspot.com/ on my side, CJ has encouraged me to release some of those recordings and I’m taking her advice, because it’s good advice. I begin with this recording I did with Jon Stinson back in 2008 https://wessp8.bandcamp.com/track/above-beyond-beside-below it is available for purchase for the small price of fifty cents.

Lastly, if you’re reading this I probably know you and regardless if I do or don’t I want to offer you these words that I hope you will find encouraging. Don’t give up because every problem has a solution. Thank you for your support and peace!
